These include special gifts, offers and opportunities from exclusive travel, dining, golf and retail establishments around the world. You can also listen to music and receive the latest news from your favorite sources.

My Visa is currently available on Windows® 2000 and Windows® XP environments. It will be made available to Windows Vista and MAC OS environments in the future.

Downloading My Visa is fast and easy. Simply click on the Download symbol at the top of this page and follow the instructions.

1. How do I see the toolbar?

Click on the My Visa icon in the system tray. If the toolbar has previously been minimized, you can also click on the My Visa image in the task bar.

Click on the minimize button in the right hand corner of the tool bar. This places the tool in your task bar. To see the toolbar again, please refer to question 1 above.

Wait until you see the privilege in the toolbar and then click anywhere on the privilege. This will open up the expanded view of the tool and provide you with the details of the privilege. You can also click on “My Privileges” and locate the privilege either by category or by destination. View privilege details.

Yes. You can only have one copy of My Visa on each computer but you can load My Visa on multiple computers (such as your home and work computers). Since My Visa does not track your user details, it is not aware of the number of computers you have running My Visa. For example, if you redeem a My Visa privilege with your home computer, it could still send you that same privilege on your work computer. Nonetheless, the terms and conditions related to the privilege (for example, one per customer) still apply.

My Visa frequently checks for new privileges that meet your preferences. Watch My Visa for the latest offerings – they can come any time of the day or night!

If you want to receive the most privileges possible, you can select “All” in your preferences set up. To check your preferences, click on “My Options” and then “My Preferences”.

3. What personal information must I provide to use My Visa?

No personal information is required to use My Visa. You just need to provide your category preferences when you download the My Visa application. After you download My Visa, your preferences can be changed at any time by clicking on “My Options” in the toolbar and then clicking on “Customize My Preferences”.

Visa uses your category preferences to ensure that you receive privileges that are pertinent to your interests. This information is not used for any other purposes. Please refer to the Privacy Policy for complete details.

With My Visa, you can receive exclusive offers and privileges tailored to your interests. When you download the tool, you can specify the categories of privileges that you would like to receive. These include Travel, Resorts and Spas; Dining and Wineries; Shopping; Golf; and Entertainment.

You can change your preferences, including your privilege categories, at any time by clicking on “My Options” and selecting “Customize My Preferences”.

Everything you need to know about redeeming and using a privilege is provided in the privilege details, including the valid dates and terms and conditions. While Visa may use reasonable efforts to include accurate and up to date information, the terms and conditions of the offers featured in the product are subject to change.

Click on the privilege in the tool bar and an expanded screen will appear with details of the privilege. Alternatively, you can locate the privilege in “My Privileges” and click on it.

Privileges are automatically saved in “My Privileges”. A privilege will remain there until it expires, at which time it will be automatically removed.

When you are viewing the details of a privilege, you can click on the “Forward this Offer” button in the lower center of the screen. This will allow you to send an email about the offer to a friend.

Yes. Make sure you are connected to the internet so you can receive new privileges.

You will stop receiving new privileges. However, once you connect to the internet, you will receive any offers that you missed while you were offline.

An instant notification is a message that lets you know that a special offer has arrived that meets your preferences. It will appear right above the My Visa icon in your system tray.

No, you might not receive one for every privilege. If you receive a group of offers simultaneously, there might be an instant notification message for the first offer only.

You can change your settings so your instant notification messages either close when you click on them or close automatically. To change your settings, click on “My Options” and then “Customize My Preferences”.

Yes. You can still access the offer by locating the offer in the toolbar or by going into “My Privileges”. All offers will remain until they expire.

If there is an instant notification currently open on your computer that you have not closed, if you are not online, or if you are not using My Visa at the time an instant notification message is scheduled to appear, you will not receive the notification. However, you will still receive the offer. Check the toolbar or “My Privileges” to see any new offers.

8. Will I receive any other communications from Visa?

In addition to instant notifications about offers, Visa may send you special communications. For example, a special communication may be used to request your participation in a survey. These special communications look similar to the instant notification and also appear out of the My Visa icon in your system tray.

My Music allows you to use My Visa to listen to music.

You can listen to a selection of songs provided by Visa. The number and variety of songs is constantly being updated. Alternatively, you can listen to your own music.

3. How do I listen to my own music?

My Visa is initially set up to play a selection of songs from Visa. To listen to your own music, click on “My Music” and select “My Soundtrack”. Then click on “Edit My Soundtrack” to select the source folder of your music files. The program will read in all your music files and build your soundtrack for you.

4. Does My Visa allow me to play any type of song format?

My Visa supports .mp3. At this time, iTunes is not supported.

5. How do I control My Music (play, stop, forward, change volume, etc.)?

My Music is set up with a complete control panel which can be used to control the music.

Ensure that your volume is turned up and your speakers are on. Click on the volume slider on the toolbar to ensure the sound is turned up in the player.

Troubleshooting

1. I had a privilege scrolling on the toolbar yesterday, but now it is gone. Is it still available?

It is very likely that the privilege is still available. Click on “My Privileges” to see all available offers and locate the privilege by category or by destination. If you do not see the offer, it probably expired and was automatically removed from My Visa.

2. I haven’t received any new offers in a while.

Be sure that you are connected to the internet.

3. I’ve downloaded and installed the application but cannot find it on my system. Where did it install?

Unless you specified a different path upon installation, the program will install in C:\Program Files\Visa\.

4. How do I prevent My Visa from automatically launching at startup?

By default, My Visa is set up to automatically launch when you turn on your computer. To disable this on Windows-based computers, click on your Start menu (lower-left hand corner of your screen), select "Programs" and then select "Startup." From the Startup menu, locate and then right-click on "Launch My Visa". From the menu that appears, select "Delete". The next time you boot your computer, My Visa will not automatically launch at startup.

If you disable My Visa from launching when you turn on your computer, you can re-launch the application in one of two ways:

  1. Double-click on the "Launch My Visa" short-cut icon on your desktop.

  2. Click on the Start Menu (lower-left hand corner of your screen), select "Programs", select "My Visa" from the list of applications, and then select "Launch My Visa".

5. How do I re-enable My Visa to automatically launch when I turn on my computer if I previously disabled this?

If you disabled My Visa from launching at startup per question 4 you can re-enable it to launch at startup by, clicking on your Start menu (lower-left hand corner of your screen), selecting “Programs” and then selecting My Visa. You then need to locate and left-click on Launch My Visa. From the menu that appears, select "Copy". Then paste this information into the start up menu (Programs to Startup). The next time you boot your computer, My Visa will automatically launch.

6. When I click on a privilege in the toolbar nothing happens. What should I do?

This action should open the left pane to reveal offer details. Try exiting the software and restarting it. If it still doesn’t work, you can send an email to myvisa@visa.com.

7. I received an error message when performing the download stating that I did not have sufficient privileges to complete the installation. What should I do?

This situation could occur if you are attempting to perform the download on your work computer and you are restricted from downloading applications. Check with your IT system administrators to see if they can assist you with the download.

8. I am behind a proxy service and the application does not connect. What do I do?

On some computers, if you are behind a proxy, you need to ensure you have "Automatically detect settings" checked in your "Local Area Network (LAN) Setting options".

First, exit the application.

Next, in Internet Explorer choose the "Tools" menu; select the "Internet Options" menu item; select the "Connections" tab; click on the "Lan Settings..." button. Check the "Automatically detect settings" option. Click on the "Ok" button; click on the "Ok" button.

Start the application again. You should now be able to connect and receive data.

9. The application is making my computer slower. What do I do?

The application will consume a small amount of system resources while it’s running. Ensure your system meets the minimum requirements outlined in Installation/Uninstallation (question 2) and you should not notice any system resource impacts related to My Visa. If for some reason your system is running slowly, exit My Visa and start again.

10. The application has crashed. What do I do?

Please let us know by sending an e-mail to myvisa@visa.com. To help us reproduce the crash (and fix it), please provide any information you can about the circumstances related to the crash.

11. I received a message stating "My Visa service is unavailable at this time. Please check back later." What does this mean?

It may be necessary to suspend the My Visa service due to maintenance or other activities. If this is the case, the above message will appear on your desktop. My Visa will automatically try to re-connect periodically. Check back later to see if the My Visa service has resumed.

12. I received a message from My Visa stating "My Visa is unable to connect.  To resume service, please check your computer's Internet connection." What does this mean?

The BDA requires an internet connection to function properly. This message is to alert you that your internet connection is down. You should attempt to re-establish your internet connection when you see this message.
